Our big, little city up north. Always changing and always surprising, Downtown is lush with coffee shops, boutiques, "Michigan Love" novelty, and our favorite, the State Theater. If you want an awesome place for desert and coffee, Amical is the place to go.
Located about 15 minutes north of Traverse City in Leland, Fishtown is a quaint fishing harbor surrounded by unique, local shops. Boutiques, restaurants, ice creame, and waterfront make for an awesome afternoon outside. Home to our favorite sandwich deli, The Cheese Shop, all of their sammies are top notch, just make sure it's on pretzel bread.
One of our all-time favorite childhood destinations, Sleeping Bear Dunes has miles of Lake Michigan waterfront with fantastic hiking trails and dunes to climb. The scenic overlooks make for amazing photos and gives you a sense for what growing up in Northern Michigan is all about.
Be still my heart. Short's is our favorite Northern Michigan brewery (and believe us, there's a lot to chose from). Take a short trip northeast to the small town of Bellaire (swing by Torch Lake on the way) and enjoy any of Short's out-of-this-world brews and a snack, it never disappoints.
